In a summer French course in Paris we organized a crêpe party which consisted on cooking the crepes and preparing the ingredients and then we invidted all of the students and teachers to our crêpe party.

Personal goals:

Learn how to make French crêpes, sweet and salty. One of my teachers loves making crêpes and I want to learn the recipe to the secret of french crêpes.

  • Increased their awareness of their own strengths and areas for growth. 

Increasing awareness of my cooking abilities.

  • Planned and initiated activities

It was an idea that my friends and I proposed and we organized the groups and invitations to the rest of the group.

  • Worked collaboratively with others

I worked collaboratively with every person from the CEI (summer language course) to organize this activity and while cooking with the rest of my group. 

  • Developed new skills

 I learned how to make french salty and sweet crêpes.

Reflections:

 

Preparing the party:

My friends and I, while walking through the streets of Paris and buying all the time crêpes, asked our teacher if she knew how to make crêpes and she said yes. So, we asked her if she could teach us and if we could make them and eat them at the school where we slept at. She agreed with the condition that we were the ones who would organize it.

So, my friends and I divided our group into two groups og 6. One group would go to buy the ingredients and the other group would make the crêpes. 

 

I stayed with the group that made the crêpes, the teacher Danielle, taught us the recipe that she used to make the crêpes and we organized ourselves into differen tasks. I really felt like I was learning, and kept thinking how I would surprise my family when I got back. The rest of my group, the teacher and I got along very well and we managed to make the crêpes very quickly and easily. 

 

 

During the party:

The party was a success. Everyone congratulated us for our crêpes and everybody had a nice time. I felt really proud of having had this idea as I looked everywhere and all the people where getting up all the time to have another crêpes. That was good news, however, we run out of ingredients. I will take that into consideration for the next time I organize a bake sale or a "food party". Nevertheless, everyone had a very good time and loved the idea.  

Final Reflection: 

I believe it is fair to say that I achieved my goal which was to learn how to make sweet and salty french crêpes. I increased my cooking abilities by developing new skills in addition to the previous I already had in the kitchen, which I felt really proud of. I will definitely go back home and prepare some crêpes the way Danielle (the teacher) taught me. Everyone thanked me and my friends for this excellent idea and the teachers congratulated us for carrying it out really well. So, I feel very proud about that. In addition, all of the group got along very well, without and discussion and always tried to help one another when we didn't remember the steps that followed.
