Before the activity

Tomorrow I will be participiating in the solidary market from UNICEF that will take place in the Carlton Hotel in Bilbao. I must say I am very excited. I knew this market had taken place other years and I wanted to participate. So, I spoke with a friend of my mom and she helped us get a place to participate in this event. I am actually quite nervous because I don't know how people will react. And, what if I don't know how to help when they come for help? Or what if I don't know how to sell? What if they aren't satisfied with me? I will clearly try to give my best. This is going to be for sure a whole new challenge and I expect to succeed at it.

Day 21st of February

Miren and I arrived 5 minutes early to the charity market at the Calrton Hotel and we immediately got into work. Two women welcomed us very charmingly and gave us two UNICEF jackets. One of the women have us a "tour" of the establishements and showed us where each of the posts were. At first we were assigned the post of baby clothes. Not much people came at first but as the afternoon went by, more and more people starte to arrive and they told us to walk around the posts in case anyone needed help. we had to tell people how much the items cost and where they could find the different posts they were looking for. Some people asked us to recommend them items. I remembers I stayed about 10 minutes with a woman choosing a necklace she liked. I bought one for myself and some friends also collaborated. It was wonderful to see how everyone united and helped make a change in the world. It made me feel very proud of my community. Although everyone was very nice, I encountered a woman who was very rude. However, there was an old lady that made me feel excellent; she said "you are little patches of heaven on earth". I realised that even though there is bad people around, the good people are greater.

Final Reflection

This has been an amazing experience. I am proud to admit that I have achieved my goals. The director sent us an email to thank us for our participation and to tell us that we had gained a large amount of money (he didin't specifiy on the exact numbers). I helped many customers and they thanked me for being so collaboratively. So, I can confidently say that I have achieved my goals. I feel my carisma and selling skills have really increased. This new experience has been worth it and has made me engaged with ssues of global importance and considered the ethical implication of my actions by helping people in need.
