Halloween at ASB
Activity description:
Every year the 11th graders help organize the PTO (group of parents that help the school develop activities) the Halloween party of the school. This year, it is our turn to help in the preparation of the yearly Halloween party. We will be preparing and decorating the school for the party, helping the PTO with anything they need. We are specifically in charge of the Haunted House, which we will prepare and later act in it. We will develop a story, characters, decorate it, and we will scare the kids! We are also in charge of organizing the games, and we will be helping at the parking, leading the parents to a safe place to park their car.
Length of the activity:
It will take place 3 days: 2 days preparing the party and the 3rd day will be the day the party takes place.
Personal goals:
Every year I attended the school Halloween party, and I saw the big kids organize the haunted house, and each year I hoped my turn would come to prepare that haunted house, and when it came I would make it the scariest haunted house ever. This year, our turn has come to make this haunted house, and we have been very excited. What I hope to accomplish is 1. For the games to succeed and be fun 2. For the PTO to be happy with out performance, but mostly 3. For the haunted House to be a success, in which the kids are eager to come in, and end up scared and tell their friends that it has been awesome. We will try and make it really scary, buying some terrifying props, and of course, making an awesome story line which we already have an idea. When the day comes, and I see the reaction of the kids about everything we have prepared I will know if it has been a success or not.

Reflections:
Preparing the party:
Day 24/10/2014
Today Friday we started decorating the school for the Halloween party taking place on Sunday the 26th, we made some posters for the games and the haunted house, and we could not do much more, asi we were told not so because the EFL was comming Saturday morning to school for their classes. So we did not advance much, but we did clear some concerns we had about the Haunted House and tghe organization of the games
Day 25/10/2014
So, today was the actual preparation of the party taking place tomorrow. We went to school and started helping the PTO organizing the tables and chairs, and the setting, and then we moved to organize the games and Haunted House, which we were in charge of. We divided ourselved into some groups, to make it more efficient. Some people were in charge of the games, some of the haunted house and others of making the costumes (Psychiatric pijamas). I was with both the Haunted HOuse groups and the games. We decorated the haunted house as very spooky. We got paper towl from the bathroom and sticked it to the ceiling, to make a scary entrance and to also stop the light from comming in . It really looked like an old abandoned psychiatric, which was awsome and I was sure people were going to love it. I also helped with the costumes as I had to go with Isabel to buy products to whiten the pijamas, and we had some trouble that took us very long to fix. We could not manage to carry the products in our motorcycles, but finally with a bit of difficulty we got to school with the products, and the costumes could be done. Then, I helped organizing the games, where we planned where each game would go, made posters with the name of the games, and decorated each post, andprepared the candy. We also prepared the food for the game where the children have to guess what they are touching, which felt disgusting, but really realistic.
Halloween party day:
26/10/2014
Finally the day came, we arrived there at 9:45-10:900 and stayed until 7:00. Before the party started
(it started at 12:00), we got dressed up, applied our terrorific make up, and helped the PTO with
anything they needed, like preparing the food. And then retouched the Haunted House and
practiced it, but we only managed to practice it one time, and then it was time to open it. I acted
in the Haunted House, while others helped at the games, and others helped in the fashion show
and in the tickets area. When the first kids entered the Haunted House, I thlugh it went really
catastrophic, but it turned out the kids go really scared and went out crying, so we decided to lower
the "fear intensity", mamy children ended and they went out loving the haunted house, they thought
it was really scary which made me feel really happy, becuase the most I wanted in this party was for
the Haunted House to be succesfull and me, acting, scare the
children, not too much but just the right amount for it to be succesfull. When the Haunted House
took a break I went upstairs to see how the games were going, and I saw the kids were really enjoying
them, which made me really happy. The PTO invited us to the lunch because they said we had made a
nice job. Overall I think it was really succesfull, and really really had an excellent time.

Final Reflection
I believe I have achieved my goal as the Haunted House, no matter how clumsy I felt it was, it as a success and we gained a large amount of money. Many kids were recomending it to their friends, which made me feel very proud. I felt that my class and I worked very well together and with the PTO. I managed to accomplish all the learning outcomes by giving my best, trying to develop new characteristics of my personality (trying to be scary and actually succeeding at it). So, overall, I feel confortable to say that it has been a success!
