GREEN CLUB
The Green Club is a club to help the environment. It is to aware people of the importance of the environment. So to accomplish this, the club recycles at school. The people of this club make sure the students and teachers are following the recycling process by showing them where each item should be thrown.
I will be part of this club for 2 years. I want to make people aware of how important it is to recycle.
My goals for this activity is:
- To make the students and teachers learn how to recycle, to not commit any mistake throwing each item.
When everyone know exactly where everything goes, and does not commit any mistake, making the stainding there useless, I will have accomploched my goal.
The duties in the Green Club last one week. I will be in the duty with my friend, Naroa.
Learning Outcomes
4. Worked collaboratively with others - I will work collaboritavely with my partner and the rest of the Green Club.

PROPOSAL:
1st WEEK:
22/09/2014
Today I started the Green Club. I had lunch early and went to the trash can area. I realized peole ate very fast, and so I needed to eat even faster. So, it started fine. It looked like everyone knew where to throw each item, until more people started to pick up their trays. Everyone started mixing things up. I could not understand why. It was really easy! Food and napkins in one trash can, and plastics in the other one. But people didn't get it. But I thought, alright, no problem, next time they will get it. I showed them the right way to throw each item and felt satisfied.
23/09/2014
The second day did not go any better. The people I had showed where to throw correctly each item seemed to have forgotten. So, we had to tell them to pick up the item with their hand. Some people were obedient, but other people run away, which I thought was just ridiculous and inmature. But I still felt confident it was all going to get better. I realized people just do not differentiate the plastics form the rest. So, I decided to make some signs. One would say, ONLY FOOD AND NAPKINS, and the other one would say: PLASTICS (INCLUDING ALUMINUM PAPER). And so I did.
24/09/2014
This is just ridiculous, the signs did not work. Or they ignore them or they do not see them. I started to feel very worried. People did not care about the environment, which I thought was really selfish. But I still felt like I could change their mind. I felt determined.
25/09/2014
Today everyone seemed to know much better where every item had to be thrown, which made me happy, only one or two students got it wrong, so it was great, I felt really relieved. Like my standing there had been useful, so it made me feel great.
26/09/2014
The last day I almost accomplished my goal. Everyone threw everything correctly except ONE student. Just one student threw each item wrong, which is a good start. I was dissapointed it had not completely worked, but it had improved a lot the situation. There was a girl that always threw the aluminum to the incorrect trash can, and when I showed her the correct trash can she learned it and the next day showed me she knew where to throw it, which made me really happy. It made me happy because even if it was just a little change, little changes end up in big changes. So, it was a start. I felt satisfied with my job this week, but hope to feel even more satisfied the next week I am in the duty with Naroa.
2nd WEEK:
The second week I had to supervise I was sick, so I helped out in another classmate's turn. I have noticed improvement. People are becoming aware of the importance of keeping the environment safe and are taking more seriously the recycling. I joined this club to help peole see the importance of taking care of the environment in the world is and I can see that people are realizing it! I didn't see any mistake! So, I feel really happy and I hope to have helped a lot. I made some posters to remind people of what had o be thrown in which container, so I hope that helped people even more.
Final Reflection:
I met my goal as people at my school know how to recycle and this last time I have been supervising no one committed any mistake! I achieved this goal by reminding people verbally when I was supervising and by creating posters next to the cleaning area that would remind people. I really worked collaboritavely with my partner and the rest of the Green Club and always tried to give my best. I teached people about the importance of recycling but I also learned the degree of importance recycling was if we wanted to mantain a safe environment.
